Pantone’s Colour of 2010; Turquoise
The news is out (I first heard it here on Bossy Colour Blog) Pantone has selected Turquoise as their colour for 2010!
“In many cultures, Turquoise occupies a very special position in the world of color,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “It is believed to be a protective talisman, a color of deep compassion and healing, and a color of faith and truth, inspired by water and sky. Through years of color word-association studies, we also find that Turquoise represents an escape to many – taking them to a tropical paradise that is pleasant and inviting, even if only a fantasy.” Read the full press release here.

I decorated my Christmas tree in turquoise and gold. I love it so much I want to change my plan of using cream and orange for my living/dining room to turquoise and yellow. It's such a beautiful combination and makes me feel so good.

ReplyDeleteLast weekend I went to a dinner party at this yummy mid-town flat where the feature colours were turquoise and salmon. Get this, it worked. In fact, it was brilliant.

Turquoise was big in 1898 also! I found an antique silk sample book from Lyon, France and the colors are all still brilliant. They had several, gorgeous groups of turquoise. Trish

ReplyDeleteturquoise has always been one of my favorites & my wall color is exactly that in our living room! It's great with so many other colors - you have a hard time going wrong with turquoise!
ReplyDeleteTurquoise is my "signature color!" They finally heard me! I guess 2010 is my year. I wear turquoise almost every day in some form or another from clothing to jewelry. So thrilled to also be incorporating it more into my home colors as well. I decided a few weeks ago to paint my front door a shade of turquoise. And I can't wait to see it finished.

This is a beautiful color -- I was thrilled to read the report! I adore it with fresh yellows, but also find it romantic with soft pink and gray, but in it's prime with silver and crisp white. Lovely examples, also.

My folks Florida home has a bit of turquoise. Upstairs we repainted their bedroom two winters ago in a taupe and used the old turquoise lamps. They are a great shape, I redid the lamp shades in a newer size and shape (had to buy new harps). Mom found a lighter turquoise spread with shams and with a few accessories we had a great looking room. She will be happy to hear the room is very much in style.

Turqoise always reminds me of the rust and turqoise Arizona/Desert look trend in the 80's . . . the examples you have of course are amazing. That's the colour I want in my office when I decorate it.

I have never been attracted to or liked this color. It has always reminded me when I was a little kid in the 80's. This and teal. The 80's were so tacky and so is this color. Yuck!!!
